The 39-mile reach between Fort Randall Dam and headwaters of Lewis & Clark Lake still exhibits the river's dynamic character in its islands, native flood plain forest, and bars. The 59-mile reach between Gavin's Point Dam and Ponca State Park in Nebraska still features islands, bars, shoots and snags. Both reaches provide habitat for several endangered species. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
